Fresh Step® Natural Scoop 3.208300113678 144
This is the best litter I have ever found And the cats agree with us. What I like the most is that it's natural, doesn't have clay in it, and it doesn't weight a ton so I can pick it up at the store. In the house, it never smells. However, I am having trouble to find it. Can you please let me know what's going on?
Great for a Select Market This product should definitely be marketed to senior and geriatric cats. My cat is older, overweight, and has arthritis. She used to use the clay kind her whole life (the other cat still uses it). After she mysteriously started going on the floor, the vet suggested I change litter boxes and/or cat litter. After some trial and error, I found a litter box with a low entrance and this litter. SHE LOVES IT! She no longer makes messes on the floor. It's light and easy for her to kick about. I keep a puppy pad by the mat so when the litter accumulates outside her box, I can just dump it back in again. It doesn't track all around the house as some reviewers have mentioned, but then again, she is an old cat and doesn't dart out of the litter box like she used to. The problem has been trying to locate this product. The link on this website doesn't go to this exact product and it sells for about $50 for a 3lb bag on websites. My local stores aren't selling it anymore and none of the other pine litters on the market are like this one. In fact, she refuses to use the other imitations...
Perfect for us! I have to use a pine litter as I can't stand clay dust or fragrances and one of my cats is allergic to corn and wheat. I had been using Feline Pine, but the formula changed from the lightweight almost powdery litter to a more traditional chunky formula. Heavy and not as good at clumping. Then I found this litter at Walmart and hooray! Lightweight, cats like it, zero odor and excellent clumping! Sure it makes a little mess, but if you put a litter mat or rug next to the box it's not bad at all.
I love it! I got my first cat three years ago and I volunteer at an animal shelter.I have been working with cats and dogs, socializing them so that they can be more appealing for adoption. I am also old. I had been searching for a cat litter that totally keeps the odor away and is light enough to sift easily, as I am no longer strong. The corn bits type was easy to sift, but it didn't control the odor. Then I tried the Natural Scoop product and wow! no odor whatsoever and I have multiple cats using the litter boxes in my home. Yes, it tracks on the carpet, but washes easily off socks and a quick light vac and all is well. The heavy clay litters were making me sorry that I decided to get cats for pets...now I am happy, except that my local Walmart appears to no longer carry it
What a MESS! I always buy Fresh Step Scoopable litter for my cats. When I say this new product in the store I decided to give it a try as I like to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Unfortunately, this litter is an absolute mess! Everywhere the cats go, the litter is tracked! I had to vacuum every time one of the cats used the litter box! I had to go back out to buy the usual type because this litter was a horror show! I do NOT recommend this litter to anyone! Stick with the regular formula of Fresh Step!
It's everywhere! After I was unable to find unscented Fresh Step clumping clay at four different stores in town, I opted for this product with the assumption the scent would at least be mild and pine-y and not the horrid "floral" odor of the scented clay litter. It's been approximately 18 hours and there is pine litter all over my apartment. Some tracking was an issue with the clay litter but this is ridiculous. It looks like I was sawing logs in my living room! That said, the odor control is great, on par with the clay litter and the clumping is fine. Not as solid as the clay but serviceable.
Really Like It But Hard to Find... When I first used it, it was every where but then I kept mixing it with the regular litter. I know have a 75% reg. and 25% Natural. What I like best, is the waste is like air, no odor, clean-up is quick and does not stick!!. At first the cats seemed to want to play with it more; now mixed...they are in and out. Maybe the shake their paws!! lol
Waste of money / very messy The product worked very well as far as odor controll and clumping but this stuff makes a big mess. It sticks to the cats fur and paws and they carry it all over the house leaving a very messy trail. I even mixed it with the clumping clay litter and still got the same results. This stuff is way to light like fine sawdust. Very disappointed with this product. I wasted my money on this and had to throw away all the litter I mixed it with.
Wouldn't buy again I bought this kind right when we got our cat. We used it once and i will never ever buy it again. The fact that is gets all over the floor, and it sticks way to much on my cat
Loved the concept, hated the product I am a loyal fresh step user and when I saw this I was super excited. What I hate most about the regular clumping litter is the dust and little granules that end up on the floor. The natural scoop seemed to be the answer. I have two indoor cats and what I found was it didn't control odor and it barely clumped. My bathroom smelled like cat urine and instead of clumping all I saw was wet pine in the box. I didn't want to waste the product and throw it out so I've started mixing a little of it in with the regular clumping clay. Once it's gone though I won't be buying it again.
The best I've used for certain things; not so good with others. In a nutshell, here are my pros and cons for this product. PROS Very, very lightweight and does not adhere to the bottom of the pan which makes cleaning the litter box a breeze. Keeps feces odor to a minimum. CONS Static electricity makes it stick to the cat and it gets all over the place. ' Cat practically shovels it out of the litter box which is why I keep a boot pan at the litter door. Note: the litter box is covered with a swinging flap door. Very fine and hard to see on the floor so it sticks to the bottoms of your feet and socks. Does not mask urine odor very well. Note: I have had to resort to using a baking soda freshner product and I line the bottom of the litter pan first with Fresh Step Crystals which has helped greatly to cut the urine odor. Does not last as long as advertised. I usually get two litter pans worth out of one box but I must fully change the litter weekly. My summary: With the exception of the lack of urine odor control and the tracking issue, I really love this product. If Fresh Step could improve this litter regarding these two issues, this would be an outstanding product. For now, I work around the issues.
It's Play Time! If I was able to give a ZERO to one of your products, I sure would, however, 1 is the lowest rating. Fresh Step Natural Scoop's only purpose in my cats world, the two very large males, they are brothers, is seeing who can build the largest pyramid, paw load by paw load, outside the litter box, while their mother and older sister will not go close to that litter box. The other four litter boxes around the house are filled with Multi-Cat Scented Scoopable and they use them for the intended purpose. I can't give a rating as to Odor Control as it's only used to play in, nor can I rate the clumping effect, however, as for the Cat's Satisfaction, the boys give it a 5-paw rating.
Fresh step natural pine Fresh step natural pine is the best product, your company has produced. With four special needs cats I prefer pine instead of clay. But I can't purchase it anywhere. I found it in Pathmark, and I cleaned they out. Please supply it in more stores. I would highly recommend fresh step natural pine over feline pine -- please do not discontinue. Thanks.
Total waste of money This is like using saw dust in your litter box. I have used Fresh Step products for years and automatically trusted that this would be a good product, but I was wrong. I am not even able to continue using it and must go out tomorrow to buy my usual box of Fresh Step litter. The urine smell is terrible even after one use. You can smell it before you even get in the room. The litter is now tracked all down hall and stairs. The cats don't like using the litter and one even sneezed when he tried to cover his mess. I would take it back to Walmart and demand a refund, but since I have opened the product, I'm sure that I am stuck with it. I would not recommend using this product!
Love it! We were tired of standing in front of rows of different brands of cat litter and reading every label for an hour every time we had to buy more. We have tried all brands of cat litter and all of them have failed us in the odor control category. So, we thought we would try something other then clay litter when we saw Fresh Step Natural Scoop. It works great. I don't have to close the restroom door anymore to keep the smell from going into the other rooms. It doesn't track as much as clay, but it doesn't clump as well as clay does. I am satisfied with the odor control and that is all i really wanted.
A Eco-friendly litter we both like! I'm lucky to have a cat who is adaptable to all types of litter, and this was no different. In the past I've tried Swheat Scoop and was disappointed with odor control, clumping, and the fact that urine seemed to turn into clumps of cement. Natural scoop has completely fulfilled all of my hopes for a sustainable litter! The fresh smell is reminiscent of a barn (a good, clean one) and there isn't as much dust as I was expecting. I will admit that it does get everywhere, but my cat is in the habit of racing around after a trip to the litterbox so I've encountered this problem for five years, and it's no more messy than the clay he tracked around. It can be hard to scoop but it just requires a little sifting to get the job done. Over-all a fantastic litter, I would highly recommend!
Love it - why don't my pet stores carry it? Love this but the only place I can find it is Walmart! Please put it in my local Petco, Petsmart, PetValu, please!!!
Not Good I agree with several others who reviewed this litter: it does stick to cat paws and does not clump as well as traditional scoopable litter. Additionally it does not scoop at all well: the litter is so light weight that it doesn't sift through the scoop. I am all for using natural products and I thought that this might be great since I like the other scoopable litter and the fact that it weighs a fraction of the other type, seemed ideal, but not this time. I am going to use the regular scoopable litter from now on.
Sticks to paws I make every effort to use natural product based cat litters in order to reduce the amount of clay-based toxins in landfills. I was happy with the clumping version of this product and when my store did not have any in stock I opted to give the scoopable a try. This litter did an excellent job of sticking to my cat's feet and not much else. He tracked litter all over the house and only used the box once before he refused to go in there again. I even tried mixing it with another corn based litter that I had hoping I would not have to waste the bag but no success. I will not buy this litter again.
Worst I've used This litter is awful, I have used many of the Fresh Step products and recently tried this one because I liked that it was a more natural product. I'm not sure if its just my cat but she had this stuff every where around the litter box (frustrating because this stuff is like sawdust). This stuff all moves together so if your cat is somewhat of a digger they will be using the restroom on the bottom of the litter box making this product useless in my opinion. Fresh Step offers many great products but this is just not one of them.
my cat loves this litter I am 28 years old and just got my first cat and I have tried several kitty litters because I wanted something that does not make my bedroom stink since that is where I have her kitty litter and something that doesn’t cloud the room with stink when cleaning and leave dust all over the place like regular clay litter and to top it off the tiny pieces of clay would get stuck in her feet and she would leave it all over the bed when she cleaned herself I bought the pine litter just to try it out and I love it the clumping is light weight and does not leave a cloud all over the room when I clean it out at the end of the day and I can smell when the kitten uses the bathroom anymore and with other litters I could always smell her business but with this there is really no smell at all the only way I know she uses it is because I clean it out every day and I love this litter and I am going to tell all my friends to use pine litter because it really is the best and another plus my dog does not eat this pine litter and he would eat the clay litter because it always smelled so I love this litter and would recommend it to anyone the only down side is my kitten has long hair and the pine gets suck in her hair but we put a mat outside her litter box and she cleans herself on it so other than that its great
Nice in Theory... Not in Practice To say this littler did not meet expectations is an understatement. Another review described some of the problems: Light weight: Nice concept but my kitties are used to standing on the edge of the litter box before springing out. I had to clean up an over-turned litterbox a couple of times. It does not eliminate odors. It does not clump well. Freshstep made a clumpable natural litter that was available last year. It did the job & it was 'natural'. They should have let well enough alone. I can't even find this litter now. Oh well, back to MultiCat... & hoping that there's nothing in it that's shortening my kitties' lives.
A litter for the NON-BURLY cat lover Over the (long) years, my cats and I have tried out many products, and this is absolutely the best. I first bought it because I can lift the bag with one hand (beats straining to lift a 20+lb hulk into the shopping cart--not to mention out of the car trunk). Sorry, my back is not that strong anymore. However, Target has stopped selling it. (Natural scoop, 4.1#). They will not even order in response to a request. Can't you influence them? I had to substitute something made of ground up whole corn and my cat would not touch it until true desperation set in. Why make corn (a food, right) into cat litter anyway.?? Thanks for making a cat litter that the non-burly can manage.
so far so good I've only been using this product for a couple of days, but it is going well so far. My male cat has had some bladder issues and is also very picky about his litter. He seems to like this though. It does not have to use heavy perfume to absorb odors. The scoopable clay litter didn't clump well and got kind of gooey and hard to scoop. Both of our cats make a mess with their litter but this product is so much easier to clean up off our wood floors. It seems like there was always a coating of dust from the clay litter that was not easy to remove from the wood without having nasty streaks on the floor. So far, both kitties and their mom are happy.
This litter is GREAT! We had issues with a slight odor from the cat box, and we stay on top of emptying it at least 4x a week. Now there is no more odor and no "cat litter smell" If you hate the smell of cat litter, this is a must try! Yes, it does track a lot, but that is the only downside. We have also tried similar kinds of litter from other brands, but Fresh Step was head and shoulders above the rest! It has become harder to find this product in the stores, PLEASE DO NOT drop this product! Happy cat owner Bill
Good for the Environment Bad Cat Litter I bought this because I wanted to switch to a lighter weight litter. I been using Fresh Steps Multi Cat Unscented with great results, except for the weight. I trust Fresh Steps and deiced to give Natural Scoop a try. After getting it home and in to the litter box I Immediately noticed a problem. It gets everywhere. It sticks to the cats fur and paws and I find it all over the place. Also this litter is difficult to sift, it takes longer than regular clay litters to sift and its clumping ability is far less which leads to clumps breaking apart. The bits and pieces then fall right back into the litter box causing more oder. I went though lest than one bag of this stuff then before making the switch back to Fresh Steps Multi Cat Unscented. That stuff works great.
different but not bad! I have been using this for a little while and it is so much better then other cat litter I've used. I've tried most of them from clay to the multicat order shield and this new one just seems to work. I Love the smell of it and it helps cover up odors which is great. The only issue is it seems to get everywhere because its so light. One of my cats was not very sure at first but she is fine about it now. Scooping it is definitely a process but overall its the best one I've tried so far.
Surprisingly Effective! I came across the Fresh Step Natural Scoop the other day at the grocery store. The first thing I noticed right away was that the litter only weighed 3-4 lbs. I was amazed! It has been a challenge to find a clay litter alternative that all of my cats would use so I thought that I would give it a try. I opened the bag and found that it had a pleasant natural wood scent. After a few minutes our first cat used the litterbox followed shortly thereafter by my two other finicky cats. I was surprised on how fast they all took to the new litter! There were no strong odors or dust that we experienced with clay litter and the scoops were light and easy to clean. I am very happy with this litter and I will continue to use this in our household!!
Pros & Cons I am constantly on the hunt for litter that clumps well, controls odor and tracks the least and I am a loyal user of Fresh Step litter products. I was intrigued when I saw the Natural Scoop and how light it was when I picked up the bag. So, I took a bag home to give it a whirl. Here's what I got: Pros: 1)- Very lightweight and makes changing my very large litter box an easier chore than it used to be. 2)- Clumps well and does not adhere itself to the sides of the litter box that you need a chisle to scrape it off like the regular Fresh Step does. Washes out much easier. Cons: 1)- Okay for odor control but that doesn't last long especially with urine odor. It's missing something there. 2)- Is so fine and builds up a static charge that it sticks to the cat, the bottom of my socks and anything the cat or my feet comes in contact with (especially the bath mat in front of the bathroom sink). It's all over the house and not always easy to detect. Improve on those two areas and you will have a great product. I will continue to use it as it is a better option than finding matted gray clumps all over my floors, rugs and sofa from the other Fresh Step litter and you can't beat how lightweight it is. I actually mix the Fresh Step crystals in with it and baking soda but please, try to improve on it! But don't use whatever you did with the Odor Shield / Extreme. That fragrance made me and my cat both nauseous!
watch your kitty if he has severe asthma My kitty has severe asthma and as I poured the kitty litter in the pan I was not sure if he could handle the dust THE DUST WAS HORRIBLE!!! I ALWAYS USE FRESH STEP AND I BOUGHT NATURAL SCOOP BECAUSE THEY WERE OUT OF MY BRAND. This brand may be great for healthy cats but NOT for my kitty
Love it! I have 3 cats and I finally found a litter that is easy to carry home from the grocery store. The cats love it because it is soft on their paws. I don't have a problem with the tracking because I have enclosed litter boxes and a kitty litter mat right in front of each litter box.
Surprised! I bought Fresh Step Natural Step when I couldn't find the litter we usually buy. I was pleasantly surprised at its quality of odor control. The litter box is in the house and I haven't smelled any odor whatsoever. Our cat enjoys going outside as a preference, but has taken to this litter very quickly and easily.
Non clumping dust causing saw dust When I first purchased this litter I mixed it in with my old litter and thought that I had finally found a great litter. But as the old litter was replaced by more of the Natural Scoop I discovered that it doesn't clump, except to the sides of the litterbox and when you attempt to scoop it out the litter it falls apart. I then realized that it was tracking throughout the entire house and leaving a fine dust all over everything in the room where the litterbox is kept. It took me an hour to vacuum up all the litter and dust that was left behind. I will NEVER buy the Natural Scoop again.
Messy My many cats and I were exceedingly disappointed with this product. I found it everywhere in the house--as far away from the litter boxes as the kitchen! Yuck. I will not purchase it again. I will, however, continue to use and recommend the the clumping "clay" based Fresh Step formula. The cats and I like it the best!
This is good for weight. The fact that this litter is so light weight is wonderful. I was very pleased when picking up the bag. However, it tracks terribly. It gets all over the cat and thus all over ther furniture. The clumps only stayed clumped if left until thuroughly dried out, otherwise they fell apart. It worked very well for feces odor, but the urine oder was evident throughout the apartment. For the first time ever the cat would actually go outside the box so I assume she did not like it.
my cats like it I have two cats. My boy- a 6 month old =kitten enjoys digging in Fresh Step when it's brand new in the box. He seems to dig just for the fun of it...He usually starts sniffing the litter when it has just been changed. It seems to mw that he prefers Fresh steps smell over the other cat litter brands, because of it consistency and smell. I have noticed that with fresh step you can scoop out and it lasts longer, that makes it easier. To be honest i don't think there is a cat litter that controls the odor of their excrements....but It controls the urin odor quite well. You don't smell any cat urine.
HATE THE NEW PACKAGING I love the litter, but the new 42 pound packaging is a farce. The plastic buckets were very nice and much easier to handle. The so called handle is a joke. The reason for the change given was to be more environmentally friendly? Who ever threw away the buckets? We have them for household tasks and yard work still. The new bag we have to throw away. When we see the display in Sam's...it looks like these bags are always falling over. Bring back our buckets.
Was Not Impressed At first I thought that it was alright, but then I started to notice the down fall of the Litter. IT GETS ALL OVER THE PLACE! It get's in and on the cats fur and under our shoes, and we all track it everywhere, from the bathroom to the living room and the kitchen, I constantly have to be sweeping shavings up or vacuuming. Then smell is bad too, It makes the house smell like you have pet rats in the house, the shavings are very similar to rodent bedding, I was hoping that it wouldn't be the same, but it was.One or both of my cats would also "go" outside the box at times, so I'm guessing they were not happy either. And yes we kept up with the litter box. So all in all, this litter was a bad choice for us, never again, I will stick to the original kind from now on.
MULTI-CAT WITH CARBON I have been a faithful Fresh Step consumer and recently purchased the multi-cat litter with carbon that eliminates the odors from urine and feces but was disappointed that it did not at all. For our home the regular Fresh Step litter works better for "my girls". When I purchased the multi-cat litter I thought the odor would be more controlled and I am truly disappointed that it didn't. However I will continue to buy Fresh Step because it works well for my home.. just not the multi-cat !
They love it! They use the box now and not my house. Life is good.
It works great for my cats I didn't have any problems with clumping and odor. The previous litters I've used none of them could handle my Bengal's urine which was hard to clump. This one does a much better job of it vs other litters that fall apart. I also can't stand the smell of clay litters, even when no urine or feces are present, clay litter still stinks up the house. I like natural litters because they are not dusty , smell fresh and don't leave a lingering odor in the house. I don't know how anyone can stand clay. It's so dusty, bad for your lungs and the cats. I think it's a good litter, but I think Fresh Step should sell this in bigger bags.
Almost excellent litter! The cats and I love this litter! I wish it would clump better, but I'll take the odor control and cat satisfaction anytime!
Clumping breakdown The clumping breaksdown as you sift through the litter. Otherwise great.
Great features We love it....can't tell we have a cat in the house :)
Light weight in all areas Really liked the product for it's naturalness and light weight. Unfortunately, clumping was terrible even with a new scoop, order control just so so, and the litter tracked all over my house. It doesn't have as much dust as clay litter does, so I am looking for another renewable resource product.
Too Fluffy First the bad news: The Natural Scoop litter in the bag is lightweight but doesn't seem to do a very good job clumping or eliminating odor. I ended up going through three bags in five or six days because I threw away so much of it when I scooped. The rest of it ended up on the bathroom floor, behind the toilet and in the tub, all courtesy of one small cat. Now the good news: The heavier "Natural" Scoopable litter that comes in a BOX is a whole different story. This Natural litter is great. It forms solid clumps that are not sticky and are easy to remove. Plus, it does a good job with odor control. As close as I've gotten to this phenomena with original Fresh Step scoopable litter was to add a competitor's natural product, which brought the clumps to the surface of the litter rather than allowing them to go to the bottom of the pan and stick there. The boxed version gets 5 stars, the fluffy stuff zilch!
Disappointed I've used Fresh Step Scoopable for the last year and have been very happy with the results. I tried this new product last week. I liked the sawdust but it wasn't effective at all in eliminating odors. All week the house didn't smell fresh. I changed the littler yesterday hoping that it would help. It didn't. This morning the house smelled like a barnyard. I threw out all of the contents and bought another box of the regular scoopable. This was a big ripoff. I was happy to see it and bought it because it was so much lighter in weight and I was buying a lot of large bulky items on that same shopping trip. However, I expected it to work and it didn't. There was virtually no odor control whatsoever.
Best for my cats I have two male cats. And this litter is the best so far for me. I get really bothered by the chemicals in the normal cat litters. This one does its job and also doesn't bother my allergies.
A- I have a bad back so I have been thinking about some other type of litter I could use for my two adult cats that is lighter for me to carry when buying in the store and when doing a full clean out of the litter box. When I saw this Natural Litter I was sceptical because it doesn't look like anything special. I thought, "how is this supposed to stop odor and clump? It's just flakes of something woodsy looking." I know cats are not going to choose to go to a new type of litter if they had a choice so I sprinkled some of the natural litter on top of their clumping litter and some clumping litter on top of their natural litter in the second litter box. At first they sniffed at it and were interested but would not actually step on the natural litter. Then I took a clump of dirty clay litter from the old box and put it on top of the natural litter in the new box. That did the trick. They got the idea and started using the natural litter box as well. Now they use both. Good points: 1. it is light weight and doesn't hurt my back to carry it 2. it is natural so all that litter that is filling up the landfills can be cut down some 3. no odor. I have always had great experiences with Fresh Step and never have an odor problem at all. The nightmares from my childhood with that horrible litter box in the bathroom that smelled like something poisonous is history. There are drawbacks: 1. dusty dusty dusty. I have to wear a mask to sift the litter because I start to wease from breathing the dust. My cat also snorts when she is in the box scratching to cover what she did. It makes me wonder how healthy it is for them to breathe it all the time. My litter boxes are completely enclosed because one of my cats kicks the litter everywhere when she is in there. I think I will talk to the vet about the dust before buying a new bag and just ask if he thinks the dust is unhealthy for the cats. 2. tracking is worse. Because this litter is so light and clings to their fur they are tracking it everwhere but that is a sacrifice I can live with. I just get the hand vac after scooping daily and vroom it's gone. 3. it doesn't sift well at all. I think I need a litter scooper that has bigger holes than the one I have. I don't know if it is the shape of the particals or because it is so light but I have to shake the scooper to get it through the holes and that makes more dust.
Waste of money I have always swore by Fresh Step scoopable litter, but while debating whether to try this Natural Scoop I found I have made the wrong choice. I have 2 litter boxes side by side. One has the scoopable litter and the other has this Natural Scoop. I have 4 cats and they have only gone in it a couple of times. They don't like it and I don't either. It doesn't sift and it's messy. Had I known that I was buying a bag of plain sawdust for $10 I would never have done it. And for the price, it's not economical because it won't last as long. I just wish I could get my money back or a replacement box of the scoopable litter. In these hard times, I should have known not to experiment. Won't do it again. I'll stick with what works.
Oh My Gosh... I am so impressed with this litter, that I have talked about it all day. My friend tonight when I was telling her about this litter told me that I could be the spokes person for this product. I can't believe the reviews that I am reading. Did you truly try this product? I have never been a cat person until a friend of mine willed me two kittens five years ago. I have since rescued several, one which also lives with us now. There was always the smell of urine, or just litter odor no matter what litter I used in my house. I hate that smell. I truly have tried every type of litter that there is, until I tried the Natural scoop. I hate how the urine always may clump but it always get yuke on the bottom, until Natural Scoop. I absolutely love this litter. I bought it on Sunday because I was traveling for 9 hours to Nashville TN. It was small, on the shelf, and I only need a little. The trip didn't take as long as expected, so I used this page of unusual litter when I got to our new location. I hadn't had a chance to buy the "real Litter". Last night I saw one of my cats in the kitchen using the litter box, and it occurred to me that I should probably scoop it. I have been so busy from my move. I haven't smelt anything I realized. I put my nose to the pan, nothing. Only a light pine smell. I started scooping. Oh my gosh. There was nothing wet anywhere. Nothing. the urine collected in this thin sheet like thing. I smelled my bag of litter after I scooped it, because I just couldn't believe that I smelled absolutely nothing, once again nothing but pine. I have called everyone I know that has a cat, and asked if they have a litter box, or know a friend that does. That have to tell them about this awesome litter. My God Child stopped by to see me this evening after her dance team practice. The very first thing I did is take her and asked her to smell my litter box. She smelled nothing. I love this. I have since run to the grocery up the road and bought two more bags so that I make sure that I have them when I need them. I will stock pile this product. It truly is amazing. It is kind of fluffy, but that is it's charming thing I think. It sticks to everything bad in that box. Just make sure you have a litter box cover to catch the fluffy awesome stuff. It lasts forever too. I bought it on Sunday, and it still looks and smells brand new. I love you for this. I hate a litter box smell, and I have three cats that I love dearly. Thank you.
Greatly disappionted Good idea - poor results. Dispite daily cleaning the litter has a STRONG urine odor
Litter Flop This product doesn't work at all like you would hope. It's very hard to sift because it is so light. The cats track litter three times as far as clay litter. Worst of all one cat refused to use the litter box altogether and convinced us to switch back to clay litter after a day.
Love the concept, needs more odor control! I'm very disappointed with the Pine Cat Litter products that I've used in the past - non-Fresh Step brand. So, when I saw Fresh Step put out a CARBON pine litter, I JUMPED AT IT!! I've been using Fresh Step Carbon litter for years, but got tired of all the dust. I tried the Pine Carbon litter by Fresh Step, and yes... still disappointed. The Carbon did not pick up the odor at all. I would buy this product by the boat load if it were better at absorbing odor. Please re-work your formula Fresh Step and I will try it again. Maybe if you put more Carbon in it... ???
Clumps for 2 seconds! I was very excited when I saw the natural scoop! I was happy that it was natural but even more happy that it wasn't so heavy!!!! My cats were a little confused at first but they adjusted - although there was a lot more litter tracked outside of the little box. I did enjoy the initial natural scent of the product pre-cat used :) My complaint and why I went back to regular clumping formula is that the natural scoop did not clump at all. When I first scooped, it looked like a clump but when I shook the excess out of the scoop the clump fell apart - the only other option was to dump the whole scoop which wasted a bunch of litter. The odor control was decent but was not as effective as the original clumping litter - it may have been my cats not liking it and therefore not wanting to spend extra time covering.
Natural Scoop Needs Work I have two cats now but have had cats for years. I've always used Fresh Step cat litter. I've tried a couple other "natural" litters but wasn't all that happy with it...until I tried Natural Scoop. It's messy. It doesn't clump. My cats track it e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e!!!!! It takes the vacuum to pick it up. You can't just brush it off the couch. I threw out the remaining portion and went back to one of the other natural litters with more substance to it.
Disappointed -- What about human's satisfaction? I love your products. I am loyal, and I was delighted to see packaging that was lighter to carry. My cat, Jack, seems perfectly happy. But what a mess! I have "sawdust" all over, forever vacuuming up -- which doesn't please Jack -- not his favorite noise. Of course, I bought several packages. But once they are gone, I will use something else that "clumps" outside the box as well.
It Stinks I am a huge fan of Fresh Step Cat Litter...it is the only kind I purchase. So, when I saw this new Natural stuff, I thought, "Good, I don't have to haul heavy boxes of litter upstairs." Then, I opened the bag and realized, it is nothing more than saw dust. And, there is NO ODOR CONTROL. I paid $9.50 for a 3 lb bag of saw dust. I will continue using Fresh Step Litter, but not this Natural Scoop. You guys need to rethink this stuff.
MESSY I really liked the idea of not having to lug 25 lbs of cat litter to my truck; however, this stuff just scatters if you look at it. Not sure how well it works because the mess and dust it produces overshadows it. WILL NOT buy again.
WHAT A MESS This litter does smell nice and is very light compared to the clay. However it makes more of mess than the clay. It tracks all over the house and is very difficult to clean from the litter box. The product acts like it is glued together and you wind up wasting much of the clean product. It doesn't sift as easily as the clay and winds up being more expensive. I will not waste my money on it again, I have been buying you clay clumping litter for many years and have been pleased with it, but it is so heavy I was looking for an alternative.
Great, Excellent,Best Ever I love this litter and so does my cat! I was using your dye and perfume free before you stopped making it..so when this came out I thought I would try it..and I'm so glad I did.. I have very bad allergys and can't stand the dust and smell that comes out of clay litter..and when I started using this I could see a difference right away...My mom started using it after I told her it worked so well and she loves it...she is older and also likes the fact that it is not HEAVY ..and also she says she loves that there isnt a layer of DUST all over everything that she use to have with the clay litter..and we're not all breathing in all that dust including our cats .. PLEASE DON'T STOP MAKING IT!! It works great...and we feel its the best litter we've ever used!
Thank you Fresh Step!! Fresh Step is a great product that I have used with every cat I have had. It is such and easy litter to clean and it smells good. The clay cat litter is the best I have ever used!! Thank you.
terrible I wish I could love this natural litter - but what a mess! Nice and light for me, yes but it was so light it tracked all over the house from my shoes and the cat's paws. It was also so light they knocked the box over and spilled piles of it on the floor - then proceeded to use it - damaging the litter rug I had there. To top it off - it didn't clump, but rather glued itself together and to the box making it impossible to clean. Unfortunately I am now stuck with 2 bags of this stuff. Going back to the scoopable clay.
Love this litter!! This litter is fabulous!! We used to use Fresh Step clumping litter, but this natural litter is worlds better - so much safer for the cats, and so much healthier for everyone in the household. This litter has no chemicals or deodorants, just a nice, natural wood smell. Our two cats are very happy with the new litter and even preferred it to their old litter when given a pan of each litter to try. Plus, it seems to last longer than the clumping litter, so we're saving money on top of keeping it chemical-free for the cats. I am so glad we switched!!
not bad but not great i have been looking for something with low dust and no fragrance. i started using this litter and have one cat that likes it and one that doesn't. it does have very little dust which i like but as other people have noted, it is very messy and i have a very hard time getting it off of my microfiber sofa. i have noticed also that if i don't clean the litter box for a few days the clumps seem to fall apart when i start to clean the box.
Better for my Kitty I want only the best for my little princess Bella, and I used to worry a lot about her being exposed to chemicals. I know that this natural product is safe for my baby. It controls odor very well, too. I live in a TINY college apartment and you can't even smell the odor anywhere. Thumbs up!
Best cat litter ever my absolute fav awesome i give a round of applause for Fresh step thanks for this remarkable litter smells great too ;) me and my kitty are extremely satisfied....
Not a fan I liked this litter at first, but I found it was messier than the normal litter. I was finding little pieces of it all over my apartment, not very good on odor control either.
i like it is good, my cats love it and is very easy to clean
FRESH STEP NATURAL SCOOP IT IS WORST LITTER EVER USED. DUSTY, TRACKS, STICKS TO CAT'S FUR AND PAWS, POOR ODOR CONTROL, POOR CLUMPING, THIS IS NOTHING BUT FINE SAWDUST. VERY EXPENSIVE $$$$ LOUSY PRODUCT
MESSY I liked it at first BUT my cat made a MESS w/it!!! It was all over my apt & the clumping isn't the greatest. I just need to stick w/the regular litter, it's my FAVORITE!!!!
Great, natural product!! I, too, like this product. One of my cat's recently developed allergies and this litter is not an issue for her. I like all aspects of it, including being much lighter to carry to the car. :) The only thing i need to find a good solution for is the fine particles being carried on my cats' fur to other areas of the house. All in all, a good product !!!!
I LOVE it!!! I have used Fresh Step for a very long time. I had four cats lost one this year to cardiomyopathy, my cats would get in my bed after using the litter box or I would pick one up after and the scent was really strong and my cats were having breathing problems from it but I didn't want to stop using Fresh Step because it worked so good at covering the odor then I saw the new Natural Fresh Step I bought a box and I loved it! It controls the odor of 3 cats without an overpowering scent. People don't even know I have cats when they come into my house until they come out from wherever they're hiding. I clean my box twice a day and so far no accidents they seem to like it a lot better than the other Fresh Steps and no more wheezing. I only use Fresh Step Natural now and I hope Walmart doesn't stop carrying it.
not a fan The smell coming from the litterbox is very much like the way a barn smells. I also have trouble finding the clumps as they are so light, so I have to sift throught the litter multiple times and since I clean the litter box daily, I feel like I am taking more time than necessary to do a menial task. My male cat has been urinating outside the box, which he has never done in the 10 years I've had him. Overall, I feel I wasted $23.00 plus the cost of the candle I purchased to cover up the barn-like smell.
ZERO odor! Let's cut to the chase. Four cats - zero odor. I've been using this litter for about 4 weeks now, and there has been no odor whatsoever. You must clean the box every day, including scraping the bottom where the sawdust has turned into kind of a paper substance. The cons - I have very fine sawdust EVERYWHERE. I am still trying to figure out what to do about that. The mat catches some of it, but it's in the cats' fur and they then deposit it onto my furniture, bed, floor, etc. That being said, daily vacuuming is a small price to pay for my house not smelling like cats live there. I'm a convert!
SUPER I bought this to try the "carbon" kind because lets face it, I try almost everything that says "new". I also read a review about carbon filtering smell better than baking soda & I thought "no way". By day 3 of a cat box change with baking soda or silica or pine (like I said I try everything) the smell is sometimes even overbearing to my husband, we have a sitting room where the cat box is partitioned, where we cant see it but could smell it sometimes. Tried all kinds of boxes too, the breeze box =( Anyway, I tried the Carbon Multiple Cat 42lb bag to give it a good try. I had to put a reminder to change my cat box, it works THAT WELL. I have officially become a carbon cat litter fan! Anyone that doesn't use this is almost wasting their money. It has officially become the litter I HAVE to get each time. AND, its still a tiny pebble so I like that too. Good work Fresh step!!
This product is best scoopable cat litter on market! Having two cats and eliminating odor means: (1) Cats must like to use it (2) It eliminates odor (3) Is easily scoopable for consistent clean cat litter box and (4)My cats and my family like the easy usability of it. Most of all is the comment visitors to our home make, " I couldn't tell you had cats!" and "What cat litter do you use?"
Not for my 6 cats I bought this because my son said it was better for the cats and all natural. I had this in the litterbox for about two weeks and no one would even step foot in it. They hated it. I will stick with the uncented scoopable litter. I wish I could get my money back as well.
Surprised I have to say I really like this litter! I only have one cat but the odor control is great compared to other litters I've used. It may have a lot of dust when you pour it out but thats the most dust I've had to deal with. I also like the fineness of it because Doodles tracks less out.
LOVE IT BUT THE TRACKING IS A MESS. I READ A REVIEW AND SOMEONE SAID THAT THE MESS IS ALL OVER BUT PERSONALLY I WOULD RATHER JUST SWEEP THE CRYSTALS UP THEN THE CLAY. IT'S JUST A PERSONAL OPINION BUT I HAVE 2 CATS ONE IS OLD AND REALLY STINKY AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN REALLY STINKY EVER SINCE SHE WAS A KITTEN AND THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS IS THE CRYSTALS SO I LOVE IT.
I love!!! I have two cats, been searching for a good cat litter that clumps but doesnt not have the cat litter smell like most due and that horrible chemical smell. I have tried all brands that are claiming to be all natrual but they did not clump and where way too expensive. I even tried the wheat litter but hated how it would stick to my cats fur and carpet difficult to remove with just vacuuming. This product I tried it once and fell in love and has been the best clumper and I donot smell any chemicals or litter smell and most definitely traps odors. Im just glad they finally came out with this product now if you can only improve from this one and have dust free I would be in heaven. Thank you!
Incredibly messy, wish I could get my money back It provides decent odor control and the clumping is also okay, the problem is the litter is so fine and lightweight that whenever my cats step on the edge of the litterbox the entire thing flips over and there's litter everywhere. Not to mention it's the WORST tracking I've ever experienced. The entire room gets covered in pieces of litter every time they use it. I have three cats so I've tried a lot of different kinds of litter, this is the worst. The mess is horrible. I just bought it yesterday but I'm tempted to throw it all out because I can't handle the mess much longer.
Don't waste your money I was very disapointed with Fresh Step Natural Scoop product. The product did NOT elimate the smell!- The product did NOT Scoop very well-
Great product! I had been using Fresh Step Crystals for years for our two cats and was happy with it. When we got the third cat, I went out to buy another litterbox and some litter and saw Fresh Step Natural Scoop. I thought, why not give it a try? The miracle was that my female cat now urinates in the litterbox for the first time ever (I had to put out puppy pads for her before). The two males are not picky and alternate between the crystals and Natural Scoop. I had tried all kinds of litter, including some very expensive ones, but my girl would not use them, although she would use the Fresh Step Crystals for solid waste. I couldn't believe it when I saw her use the Natural Scoop. It's like a miracle to me. No more puppy pads! From now on, I'm using one box with the crystals and one with Natural Scoop. No more puppy pads! Also love that it's extremely lightweight so it's easy to carry home. Also, just like the crystals, there is little odor.
This is perfect for my Cat This product is very helpful to my Cat because he has two extra toes on each foot. This litter is light wieght so it makes it eaiser for him him spread the litter around the box. Also he is one stinky Cat so the litter is perfect for me because it has very strong order control. I would recomend this product for owners with just one cat because with many cats I have heard that it gets very stinky. Also this product isn't that dusty like Clay litter so it would probably be helpful with older cats with lung problems. That is just my opinion, but it is all true.
Best litter yet Im extremely satisfied with this new litter. It clumps better than any Ive tried before and the odor (even while cleaning the box) was minimal. My cats must like it too since they used that box more frequently than the box right next to it with a different litter I was trying. Its a relief to finally find a litter I can stand!
i love this cat litter i love this cat litter i have tried other cat litter. But they did not take care of the odor and it was just nasty! But i love this cat litter and now the natural! I love it, because now i can get this and it helps our enviroment!! thank you fresh step!!
Not Worth It The pros - It's natural! It's light! The negatives - This does a terrible job of odor control! I have to scoop it immediately otherwise I can smell the waste EVERYWHERE. Also, the cats track this everywhere. This litter must stick to my cats' paws because I find litter on the couch, and that's a good 35 - 30 ft from where the litterbox is located. You'd think that would be far enough for the cats to shake off the litter from their paws! This stuff is terrible. I won't be buying this again.
Want my money back I love Fresh Step cat liter but this was a joke. I gave it a fair rating for Fresh Step brand. I tried to scoop out the litter box and the clumps was fine but the other stuff... was I gently moved the shifter to clean it out the pine litter just floated off the scoop with the other stuff with it. I carried the whole litter box to the trash can and emptied it and put in my usual Fresh Step cat litter. The cats had also tracked it everywhere. I do see pieces of the other litter here and there but nothing like this. after just a day or two it was terrible. Seriously... can I get my money back that I spent on it? I am that disappointed in it.
Not for my cat I love the fact that is was more natural and the dust was not there which was the biggest problem for my cat. The dust from litter got trapped in my cats nose that caused me to clean her nose out every couple of days. So, I thought this would be the idea choice but not so. First, it took my cat almost 30+ hours before she would go into the litter box. I cleaned the litter box before putting the new litter in it. It doesn't clump as well as the others; you find the litter everywhere in you house; the litter will start molding if you don't remove all the wet litter; the odor control was excellent. I decided to change the litter and when I dumped it into the trash bag I discovered the baseball size clump of litter hardened to the bottom of the litter box with mold growing on it. It was very hard to remove the dried cat urine/litter combination once it hardened to the plastic litter box. I do not recommend this product.
The Best Litter for my Cat !!! I love this new litter !! The wood litter is great for my cat. It controls odor much better than any of the other Fresh Step litters. I've had cats for many years - my current cat is 14. The clay litter is terrible for cat's lungs, very dusty and weighs a ton! Every time I dump and clean the clay litter, I get that dust in my lungs and cough. Sometimes it is really hard to dig the used litter out of the box after he has used it. It clumps but I need a jack hammer to remove it from the box. Plus it is so heavy in the garbage. The wood litter is light weight and very easy to clean. The used litter scoops right out and the rest of the litter remains fresh for a long time. Yes - it does track on the cat's paws. But he loves this litter and it doesn't hurt his lungs. It is also extremely soft on his paws. Am I willing to clean up a little tracking, so my cat can be healthier ? YES - because I love my cat !! The other litters have added perfumes that just compound the dusty smell. I also think the odor control is much better with Natural Scoop Fresh Step than the other litters. I will never go back to clay litter. Please keep this product on the market !!
Great Product I saw this at Target yesterday and thought I would give it a try. The bag was so light compared to the boxes that I can hardly pick up (back surgery). I cleaned out the box this morning and everything was easy to remove, nothing sticking to the litter box. I am very happy with this product.
Okay There are some advantages like less dust, but less odor control and clumping ability, too.
It gets EVERYwhere! I was so excited to see this product at my local Target. I've heard time and time again that kitty litter dust isn't good to inhale, so it always worries me when my cats are in the litterbox. So I got two bags of this natural litter and was excited that 1) it was mostly sawdust-like material and 2) it was super light. Very quickly my opinion was changed. My cats track the litter all over my apartment. I think that because it is so much lighter than the clay litter, it doesn't fall off on the mat in front of the litterbox like the clay litter does. I have to vacuum multiple times a day now to clean up the sawdust litter from the floor, my couch, and my bed (and my bedroom is two rooms away from the litterbox!) And I don't think my cats like it either. They won't cover up their number two business in the litterbox anymore, leaving the odors free to linger. I think that this product was 5-star as an idea, but 1-star in execution. I will not be buying it again. I'm going back to the regular clay stuff.
Mixed feelings I've been using the product for a long time and have never noticed an odor in the room. I've also collected paw points which I recently redeemed. The coupon is very difficult to cut off the box and consequently takes a long time. Then on the last two boxes I've used, the paw points reward code is illegible. I have tried numerous possibilities with no luck. Asking paw points for help was confusing. I've since decided it's not worth the effort and I may change products.
Terrible product the "sawdust" litter tracks all over the floor, onto the carpet, and onto the furniture. It gets all over everything everywhere. There's no dust, but the sawdust sticks to the cats. When I'm not sweeping the floors, I have to vacuum the carpet and furniture. This is an awful product. I don't understand how the company could have thought it was worth bringing to market. I've thrown out more than half the bag & and I'm switching to another litter.
Easy to clean I absolutely love this product! It is very easy to clean adjacent area of the litter box. It is also really light weight. I can even rinse off the liter box in the shower and it won't clog the drain. I also like the natural woody smell as well!! Very clean product!!
Love it I like many purchased this cat liter with some hesitation as I have tried other natural liters in the past with no success. I have a rescued feral female cat, named Maggie, she has come along way but is settling into a great indoor cat. I thought she would be resistant to change as she is anxious so I poured the older clay liter in a bag to keep just incase I had to do a quick change back. She took to it with no problem, I do not get the perfume smell like from the other liters after she has used the box, it clumps fine and used less product. The tracking is an issue but I would rather pine dust than clay stuck to my socks. I do have the liter mat but do not think that helps much, sometimes she has dust socks on after she has been in the box. But I do think that the tracking might also be because I did not follow the directions and keep the level to 3-4 inches, I dumped the whole bag in. SInce the liter level has dropped, the tracking seems to be getting better. I would recommend this and hope that they continue this product.
Wonderful! My cat had been having respiratory issues, so I was looking for a more natural litter with lower levels of dust. I saw this at the store, and was shocked at the weight of the bag. As in, it was so light, I was pretty much in love with it right away. I was very nervous about switching, because my cat is pretty picky, and since it was so different from the norm, I wasn't sure what he'd do. Well, he was wary at first, but started using it just fine. I'm surprised to see other people saying it doesn't do anything for odor control, because I haven't smelled a thing! It clumps and doesn't stick to the sides and is so easy to scoop. There is no smell at all coming from the litter box. It does track a lot, but I prefer to step on a sawdust-feeling litter than little granules of the regular litter any day. I will use this forever, I absolutely love it!!
Best Ever!!!!!! After using clay clumping litter for years I was thrilled when I found out how well this works! It lasts so much longer than clay, no more toting 50 lbs up to my apartment, and if any gets on the floor, it's an easy sweep up, no clay build up on the floors anymore, YAY!!!!!!!! My cats took to it immediately and I just LOVE this product!
Fail It smell awful. Will not buy again. Bring back the old original scent. It was the best ever !
The Holy Grail of cat litter I can't believe other people are having trouble with this. Maybe cat urine is different from cat to cat, but I find it clumps unbelievably well. It results in a perfect, completely odorless ball that leaves no trace on the scooper. The feces comes out with barely any dust on it. Most litters turn into a big mess after a few days because it can't be scooped completely, but this one remains perfectly clean. The sawdust does track easily but I just put a mat in front of it and that takes care of the problem. The only downside was that my cat didn't like it at first, maybe because she wasn't used to the pine scent. But she's over it now and we're both happy. So I hope other people will try this litter so Fresh Step will keep making it.
Love It We have tried all the other brands out there and always come back to Fresh Step, we have 4 cats right now, the biggest is 30lbs, down to 10 lbs, and fresh step takes care of the job! I just wish we could get the new one to try but our Sams Club doesn't carry it. So we stay with the one we can buy. Even our daughter buys it because of the way it DOESN"T release order like the others
AWESOME! We are owned by two female felines. Two Socks and Chatter Box complain when we try something else so we have not bought anything different in two years. We use 5 cups per day in their litter box and scoop it at night before we go to bed. If we sleep in the next morning Chatter Box blesses us out for not having changed out the litter. We totally replace the litter in the litterbox every morning. The idea of doing otherwise is unacceptable to our family!
Horrible This stuff is just an expensive mess. I'm going back to clay
Will not buy until odor control is solved! So disappointed! Posted July 13, 2011 I have used Fresh Step clay with carbon for years. I tried the new Natural Scoop. I was very disappointed at the odor control, dust and tracking of this product. Please take care of the odor control problems, or give me other suggustions. Thank you!
So disappointed! I have used Fresh Step clay with carbon for years. I was so happy to try the new Natural Scoop because of the light weight. I am an older lady who has difficulty with the weight of the clay litter. I was so very disappointed at the odor control. It smells to me like sawdust. It does not cover the order of solid waste at all! Please let me know when you solve the odor control problems, or suggest an alternative.
Excellent Natural Litter !!! I've tried all the other natural litters on the market and none of them stood up to the strict standards of my two cats. This litter actually controlled the odors, properly clumped, and pleased my cats so they would actually use the litter box. I kept having problems with the other natural litters where it wouldn't neutralize the odor enough and my cats would end up doing their business outside the box. This litter is dust free and I find even less litter dust in my home than when I used to use the regular Fresh Step scoop brands. Also, I have bad allergies and the dust free feature is great for my allergies and it has no perfume in it either. I've tried the Fresh Step Perfume and Dye Free litter and I have noticed a faint perfume in it that still ended up bothering my allergies, but the Fresh Step Natural has no scent. Allergy sufferers rejoyce! :-) I'm very happy Fresh Step came out with this. Thank You Fresh Step!
Would never buy again. I've always used the original scooping litter and was always satisfied with it. I decided to try the Natural Scoop. It clumped well and there was no urine odor but my cat tracked it all over my apartment. I had to vacuum my rugs twice a day. I'll stick with the original.
wont buy again I decided to try this and bought 2 bags. Was impressed by the weight and the Fresh Step name. I was not impressed at all by the product. It did not scoop or lump well, there is a heavy ammonia/urine odor. I will not buy this again. The fact that the bag was lightweight was great for me, but that is where the good points stop. My vacuum cleaner has been going non-stop ever since I purchased Natural Scoop. I will go back to a regular scoopable litter and will not will not be using Natual Scoop.
Clumps great! My cat and I love this product. It clumps only what is needed and gets it all. It does not stick to the scooper like the clay litter does when wet. I am sold! There is no bad smell and is very light weight.
Light, but smelly! I loved how light and easy it is to buy, carry, and store, but the smell of ammonia from my cats urine was unbelievable!! I have never smelled that before. Personally, I think this litter works best mixed with another, stronger litter.
Not a Good Buy I decided to try this when the Multiple Cat Scoopable was sold out at the store. I was not impressed at all. It did not scoop or lump well. I will not buy this again. The fact that the bag was lightweight was great for me, but my cats tracked it all over the house. My vacuum cleaner has been going non-stop ever since I purchased Natural Scoop. I am back to Multiple Cat Scoopable and will not be using Natual Scoop.
cat did not approve I liked that this litter is light weight. I could actually carry it to my 3rd floor apartment with one hand. After changing to this litter, my four year old cat pooped in the corner next to the litter box I had to go out in the middle of the night and buy clay litter. It's natural pine goodness was not appreciated. Change your cat's litter with caution.
Almost weightless - No more back pain! I almost pulled my back-out when I bought the "better value" 42 pound clay litter in those new folded plastic bags that has the stretchable plastic handles. Therefore, imagine my surprise and delight when I saw this on a Wal-mart shelf and it weighed almost nothing when I picked it up! I loved being able to tuck the entire package under my arm and continue shopping. but for every improvement over the old stand-by heavier litter, there is a negative. Although it does seem to last longer as the packaging promises, it is more costly. It does not clump as well either but I do feel less guilt for not being a part of the problem when I hear of our mountains & the surrounding enviornment being destroyed just so we can extract the clay. But most of all as I get older, I like not feeling my back ache as I carry the cat litter into and out of my car. And as I have multiple cats, that's a constant occurance I do not miss.
Very hard to scoop I love Fresh Step and when I saw Fresh Step Natural I figured great and didnt think twice about buying it. It does cover the odor well but very hard to scoop out any clumps and when I do get to scoop out it crumbles all over the litter box. For the mosr part the clumps stuck to each side of the litter box I had to literally spray down the litter box with an outside hose. I back to the regular Fresh Step although I would prefer the Natural if it scooped easily
"Green" litter We have used Fresh Step clumping clay litter in our two electronic litter boxes for many years. We have tried to transition to non-clay clumping litter a few times, especially since our male cat has had a urinary tract infection, requiring that he now eat expensive prescription food. He refused to use the litter box with each brand we trialed. He had no trouble transitioning to Fresh Step's Natural Scoop, however. All three of our cats use it without issues. I do not find that it tracks any more, possibly less, than the clay Fresh Step litter. Odor control is quite good and with no perfume smell. It does not clump quite as tight as clay but works fine in our electronic litter boxes. It clumps much better than Feline Pine.
Not like the regular Doesn't clump as well but good odor control. The cats don't have any problem with it, but I like the regular stuff much better.
Love it!!! I haven't stopped using Fresh Step Natural Scoop cat litter since the first time I used it. It clumps differently than most clumping cat litters but I don't normally scoop the litter box, anyway. My biggest concern for cat litter was odor control. The odor control in Fresh Step Natural Scoop is the best I've ever seen. I have tried Feline Pine and it didn't do much in the way of controlling odor. My cat didn't want to use the litter box with the Feline Pine.
Excellent Odor Control There is some tracking, which I have found can be controlled by adding about an inch of clumping clay litter and mixing it together.
Super Odor Control My kitty was very comfortable first stepping into the light sawdust of this kitty litter. She had to go to the vet several weeks ago from a urinary infection that I think may have resulted in bacteria buildup from the old litter I used. The clumping of this litter is clean and helps to curtail bacteria. Plus the smell of fresh sawdust is teriffic.
too lightweight This litter didn't clump very well - the clumps broke apart when shaking out the scooper. Also the lightweight sawdust-feeling made the litter spread all over the house. Not a fan, though the cats didn't seem to mind. I'll stick with the traditional clumping litter until they come up with a better natural variety.
Natural Scoop My Cat's like the Natural Scoop and it does not stick to their feet or fur. No more walking across a hardwood floor barefoot and feeling or hearing a crunch under your feet like the other scoopable litters. It is easy to scoop and the odor comtrol is great
I wont use anything but fresh step So I recieved some coupons for Tidy cat and I will never again switch from my fresh step. Tidy cat is the worst litter I have ever used. I love fresh step, it hides the oder very well.
So expensive - and so not worth it! I was using a Wal-Mart brand of corn cob litter called Fresh Results and it was terrific! To my dismay, it appears they have discontinued that brand, so I tried FS Natural Scoop. What a disappointment. The FS Natural Scoop litter is too lightweight to clump properly, so when I shake the scooper to sift out clean litter from the urine clumps it all breaks up and makes a mess. It also leaves very wet spots on the bottom and sides of the litter box. In order to keep the litter fresh enough for my cat to use I have gone through almost the entire bag in just over a week. What a waste, as it cost almost double what I was using, but truth be told I can't wait until it's gone! Also, because the litter is so lightweight it flies all over the place, requiring more sweeping than usual. I've used FS clay litter for years and it was always superior. I hope the manufacturer can create a better version of this product (perhaps make it out of corn cobs so it's heavier and coarser), although they'd need to advertize an improved product before I'd buy it again! My next experiment is with Arm&Hammer's corn cob litter, which looks more similar to my former favorite brand.
freshstep is great I like freshstep better than the other leading brand cat litters.Freshstep hides the oder and clumps better then the rest.
Greatly dissappointed by the tracking Have used the clay based product for years and have great comments for that. However, I tried this new Natural Scoop and although there are some benefits (weight primarily) I have to spend quite a bit of time every day cleaning up the tracking results all over the house. We have hardwood floors and it shows up quite well. With carpet you may not notice. I have now emptied the litter box after 5 days and will not use the rest of the original package we bought. I will go back to the clay product and acknowledge that I have learned my lesson to stay with something that works.
very dusty I usually buy Arm and Hammer natural corn litter. This Fresh Step was on the shelf also and claimed to clump tight, it was lighter and replaced alot more bags of regular litter, so I bought it. When I filled the box it looked nice enough, however the next day when it was time to clean up, it was terrible. It did not clump tight to urine, it was difficult and required quite alot of shaking the scoop, and high DUST. This was not worth the price at all. I would definitely not buy this again, will go back to the corn litter.
Play time! This experiment did not work well! My cats would not use it.....instead they just played in it! I went back to the FS Extreme.
IT'S A WINNER I have 14 cats indoors, so litter is a major concern. This new product is WONDERFUL, my cats love it, and best of all I love it. It really controls the odor, tracks very little, is light and easy to handle, and fairly priced. The only drawback, I just can't find it. I bought it at a Walmart which is 60 miles from my house, I just happened to stop in while I was in that area. I can't say enough good things about this litter.
It is much better than the clay litter we used to use the clay litter. we used a lot more in a lot less time. We have been using scoopable for awhile now, and we and the cat like it much better. We get the 14lb box. Thank you
Best Natural on the Market First of all, I have been a Fresh Step user for over 15 years and have tried all of the versions. Last year I decided to try natural litter to help the environment more but I really didn't like the FS version as it was more clay than natural. So, I tried various other brands and found that they just weren't up to the odor control of FS. Then I started mixing the multi-cat FS with a decent natural brand. When I saw that this was out I had to give it a try and used it by itself. Works great! I was really pleasantly surprised by the odor control considering how fluffy the material is. Speaking of which, that is the only negative that this product has: too easy to track. I have good litter mats outside of the boxes but the cats still manage to track the chips. Still, if given the choice between that and the dust that the rest have, I'll take the little bit of tracking. My cats had no problem switching at all. I also bought the new extreme to try and can honestly say that I don't like it near as much as the natural so that is what I will be getting. I am thinking of trying a small layer of the multi-cat on the bottom for extra absorbancy but, for the most part, this is my new litter! Thanks for coming out with this one!
My Cats Hate It! Let me first say that I absolutely love your products. Always used Perfume and Dye Free until you came out with Natural Scoopable, the clay one in the box. Since then that's all I have used and the product is wonderful. Great odor control, clumping and my cat's are very satisfied with it. Then I thought I would try the new Natural Scoopable with pine. My cats refused to use it unless they absolutely had to. I ended up having to dump it after two days and went back to Natural Scoopable clay. I can only find that at my local Stop & Shop and I fear that since I don't see it on your product list that you may no longer make it. Say it isn't so?!
Tissue Paper litter everywhere! The smell is good... The mess is horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It sticks to my cats' fur and everywhere else too! I threw it out and unfortunately had to switch brands ( btw I hate the new brand as well, but at least they sent me a refund for my dissatisfaction!) I have now reverted back to the non-eco friendly clay :( very disappointed! Loved the original natural litter, but was still laden with clay, wish they had something in the middle, maybe I have to mix my own????
Best Litter I Have Tried It has better odor control than any other litter of which I am aware; does not have the unhealthy fine dust that is in clay litters; is more economical than clay due to not needing to use as much nor change as often; is easy to carry (very light weight); and has a clean pine appearance. The negatives are slower to sift and it may track a little more, due to its light weight.
smelly light I tried my first package of the new Natural Scoop. I like it but it does have a funny smell when you 1st open the package. My female cats use it but my male cat won't but then he won't use my Breeze cat little box either, fussy guy! I love the fact that it is so light and it absourbs very well but not as easy to sift thru the litter scoop to clean because it is so light. The fact that it is light is great for me because I'm in my 60's so lifting the clay stuff can sometimes hurt my back. I will buy it again.
Horrible Smell I have been using the crystals..bought this bag in error. Upon opening the bag...wow it really has a bad smell. I had to throw the whole bag away...Back to the crystals. Now both Jade and I are happy..
too messy to use I am a big fan of Fresh Step so I decided to try the new Natural Scoop. I like that it is much lighter to carry than the clay. It seems to clump well but not as well as the clay. Much like the clay it keeps the smells down. Unfortunately, I quickly found litter all over our loft. It sticks to the paws and fur and they leave a trail of it everywhere. I discontinued use after two weeks and called Fresh Step. They sent me a coupon to replace it with a clay solution.
New Cat Parents When my husband and I became first time cat parents, 3 of my friends recommended Fresh Step with Carbon because that's what they use. They told us of the ease of use, no odors, easy to clean the litter box and what a great value it is. We tried and it wouldn't use any other litter for our baby boy. Whether you're a new cat parent or and old hand at this, I recommend Fresh Step with Carbon. You will NOT be disapointed.
Perfect litter This is the perfect cat litter. Clumps and greatly reduces the smell. I've tried many different kinds and Fresh Step is the best quality with the best price!
Excellent product After trying a lot of other brands claiming that they clump and they don't, I finally found a clumping litter that actually works :)
NATURAL Works well, but my cats still prefer the crystals. do not know what else I can say
AWESOME I have used Fresh Step Clumping litter for 5 years. When I saw the Natural formula I thought I'd give it a try. It was Fresh Step so it must be good, right? I was NOT disappointed! It clumps the same, it controls odor the same, it lasts just as long even though it weighs less, and it costs the same. The biggest plus is it is less dusty! My cats love it. My only complaint is I can't always find it at the store. When that happens I buy the other Fresh Step Clumping Litter. No complaints there.
Overall wonderful product! We were so happy when this came out! We try to only buy natural products and sometimes it doesn't work to our advantage but this one turned out to be so effective. The odor is under control, the cats aren't covered in dust, the bathroom smells less like litter and it's just as easy to clean as other clumping litter. Love this product and have already been recommending it to our friends and neighbors :)
